Our Fleet

A Boat for Every Sailor

Our programs are supported by a large and carefully maintained fleet that allows us to meet sailors where they are and support learning at every stage. Having a wide range of boats means instructors can make thoughtful choices each day - matching sailors with equipment that fits their age, experience, and comfort level.

Maintaining a strong fleet is central to how our programs operate. It allows us to offer consistent instruction, adapt to changing conditions, and create an environment where sailors can build skills, confidence, and independence on the water over time.

Sailboats

The sailboats in our fleet are chosen to support learning at every stage. Stable beginner boats help new sailors focus on fundamentals, while more responsive dinghies introduce teamwork, boat handling, and advanced skills as sailors progress. Instructors select boats thoughtfully so each sailor is challenged appropriately without being overwhelmed.

  • Cape Cod Bullseye

The Bullseye is a stable and reliable keelboat that serves as the backbone of our programs, used by sailors of all ages from first-time beginners to adults. Sailed with an instructor on board, it provides a steady platform for learning fundamentals and building confidence on the water.

  • Prams

Prams are small, simple dinghies designed for early skill-building and shared learning, typically sailed by two sailors together without an instructor in the boat. Their straightforward design allows sailors to focus on basic boat handling, teamwork, and problem-solving in low-pressure settings.

  • Optimast

Optimists are similar in size and feel to prams but are designed specifically for youth racing and skill development. These boats are reserved for intermediate sailors who are ready for more independence but are not yet suited for larger or more advanced dinghies.

  • RS Tera

The RS Tera is a simple, single-handed dinghy with multiple sail sizes that allow sailors to progress as their skills grow. It’s a great platform for building independence and is used by both developing and competitive junior sailors.

  • Turbo 420

The Turbo 420 is a two-person dinghy that introduces older sailors to shared decision-making and more responsive boat handling in a supportive, approachable way. It’s used across a wide range of programs, from mid-level instruction to junior regattas, making it a versatile next step as sailors gain experience.

  • Club 420

The Club 420 is a widely used racing dinghy in high school and youth sailing programs across the U.S. and internationally. Nearly identical in shape to the Turbo 420 but tuned for performance, it is sailed primarily by our high school team and select advanced summer programs.

  • Tartan Fantail

The Tartan is our largest and most capable keelboat, offering a stable platform with room for groups and instructors on board. It’s used in junior programs and large private lessons, providing more opportunities for learning and coordination than smaller keelboats.

  • Ideal 18

The Ideal 18 is a simple, open-transom keelboat well suited for private lessons and independent sailing through our Boat Usage program. Its straightforward design makes it an excellent platform for reinforcing fundamentals and building confidence.

  • Elliott 6m

Sailed in the 2012 London Olympics, our two Elliott 6 Meter keelboats introduce sailors to faster-paced, team-based racing. They are used in junior programs to teach keelboat racing skills and by experienced sailors looking to develop high-performance sailing techniques.

Chase Boats

Our programs are supported by dedicated chase boats operated by experienced instructors throughout each session. These boats allow instructors to supervise sailors from the water, provide guidance when needed, and keep programs running smoothly as conditions change. For many sailors, they quickly become known as the “speed boats” - a familiar and reassuring presence on the water each day.
